Dominating the Search Engine

These days, just “getting listed” is not enough to be successful with the search engines. You need to have your website showing up on page one to have a chance at getting any decent amount of traffic. Here is a heat map which shows where a majority of a searcher’s attention is focused.

This illustrates how important it is to get your site listed in the top few sites on page one.  If you can get more than one listing at the top of page one then you can really clean up.

This is where many people get confused.  “How can you have more than one listing on page one?  I only have one website.”

Don’t worry you don’t need multiple websites but you do need multiple kinds of content on your site and you need to optimize it correctly.  If done right you can have multiple listings on page one pointing at your website.  You can have a traditional SEO (Search Engine Optimization) listing, a places listing, a video listing and maybe even an image listing.  That’s not even taking into account that you can also get more coverage by leveraging the PPC  (Pay Per Click) network.

Now not all niches are going to be the same and not every keyword will list all of these categories of content on the first page.  That is why it is so important to have  a plan.  You don’t need to be wasting your time on content that isn’t going to benefit your listing or conversions.  You can learn more about converting your traffic here.
